A man has been arrested following a 'deliberate' hit-and-run in Deeside.

Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to Mancot Lane, in Mancot, at 11.48am on Thursday morning after a man was struck by a white Audi car.

The pedestrian was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

A person who fled the scene was arrested in Telford, Shropshire, on suspicion of wounding and taken to North Wales for questioning.

DS Iolo Edwards, at Mold CID, said: "We are treating this collision as a deliberate assault.

"The victim is currently being treated in hospital for a serious, but non-life threatening injury."

The road was blocked for over an hour in both directions as emergency services dealt with the incident.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called today (Thursday July 26, 2018) at approximately 11.45am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Mancot Lane, Mancot, Deeside.

"We responded with one emergency ambulance and an air ambulance crew, where a male patient was taken by road to the Countess of Chester Hospital, Chester.”
