COMMUNITY leaders are very concerned about proposed cuts in the numbers of Police Community Support Officers if Wrexham Council cuts its funding to the police.

Cllr Anne Evans told Acton Community Council it was no accident that crime figures in the Acton area were generally down.

It was due to the close relationship the community had developed with the PCSOs over many years.

She described them as the eyes and ears of the community and it would be a shame if the area had cuts in the numbers.

Constable Kerry Evans, who was at the community council meeting, said the officers would always keep a close relationship with the community and she, or one of the PCSOs, would attend the monthly meeting to discuss any issues.

Wrexham Council is due to cut the funding of PCSOs from nine to four across the county and this proposal has sparked concerns among community leaders in Caia Park and elsewhere across the town.
