A MAN who headbutted a doorman at a Wrexham nightclub has been ordered to do 110 hours of unpaid work.

Paul Hunt headbutted Predrag Dorik as he was trying to restrain him in the Atik club.

Prosecutor Helen Tench told Flintshire Magistrates Court that Hunt become embroiled in a fight and the doorman needed to join other staff members as they tried to quell him.

The headbutt Mr Dorik received left him with a bleed to his lip.

Hunt

Hunt, 24, of Victoria Drive, Llandudno Junction, was arrested after making off, the Mold court herd.

He initially pleaded not guilty to assault by beating on October 15 last year.

He told the court a misunderstanding with his solicitor over his court dates meant he had failed to attend his trial at Wrexham Magistrates Court on June 11 and then again on July 9

The court found him guilty in his absence.

In addition to the assault Hunt faced a charge of failing to surrender, which he admitted.

Nick Cross, defending, said of the assault: “There certainly seems to have been some provocation.”

As well as the unpaid work as part of a community sentence, District Judge Gwyn Jones fined Hunt £100 and ordered he pay £350 compensation to Mr Dorik.

He was also told to pay costs of £620 and a victim surcharge of £85.
