TWO young men from Merseyside who were caught dealing crack cocaine and heroin in Wrexham have been sent to a young offenders institution for a total of 70 months.

Panashe Machengete, 20, and Dylan Uttley, 21, were arrested after a search warrant was executed at an address in Wrexham in July last year.

Uttley was found with £1,950 in cash and police also seized scales and mobile phones whose text messages indicated their use to broker drug deals.

The pair were bailed, but a warrant served on an address in Coedpoeth later in the month uncovered heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of £2,450.

Judge Rhys Rowlands told the pair at Mold Crown Court: “You are street-level dealers who brought class A drugs from Merseyside into the Wrexham area.

"You knew full well what was going to happen if you were caught, but you travelled from your homes and the amounts involved were not insignificant.”

Machengete, of Stamford Street and Uttley, of Onslow Road, both Liverpool, admitted being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

Machengete admitted possessing heroin with intent to supply and Uttley admitted possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply.

The court heard Uttley had been sentenced to three years in a young offenders institution at Aberdeenshire Sheriff Court in March for supplying controlled drugs.

His term in custody was extended as Judge Rowlands handed him a three-year sentence, while Machengete was told he would serve 34 months.

The judge ordered a destruction order of the drugs and drugs paraphernalia.
