More than 130 new homes could be built in Wrexham as part of a major development.

Bellis Brothers Limited has submitted plans for up to 132 houses on land near Lane Farm in Rossett.

Split across two separate sites, it's claimed that the proposals will play a 'key part' in the village's growth.

According to a planning statement by urban designer Ian Parkinson, the development will include affordable housing.

Mr Parkinson said: "The proposals for the land by Lane Farm is to create a new development of high quality family housing – a highly desirable place to live, a place of distinction and quality that is shaped by the distinct character of the village, is well connected to local amenities, and framed by attractive greenspaces and pocket parks.

"Overall the site is well located with easy access to Rossett’s village centre, with local schools, shops and bus routes are all within a reasonable walking and cycling distance.

"The proposals have been developed in consultation with Wrexham Council and key consultees and changes have been incorporated into the proposals wherever possible.

"Provisions have been set in place to contribute to enhanced community facilities."

The plot of land earmarked to the north would have 61 homes built on it, while the site to the south would have 71.

If approved, it would include a mixture of two, three and four bedroom homes with some larger properties as well.

The proposals will go before Wrexham Council's planning committee at a future date.
