A WREXHAM man felt ashamed of what he had done after pleading guilty to being drunk and disorderly outside a Chester hotel.

David Peters had previously held a clean record before the night of June 24, when he made a derogatory remark to a female police officer in the car park of the Dene Hotel, Hoole Road.

Magistrates at Chester Magistrates Court handed him a six-month conditional discharge when he appeared on Friday, July 13.

Prosecuting, Alan Curams said it was just before midnight when Peters was at the Dene Hotel with his girlfriend, and a member of staff had asked him to leave, but he ignored them.

Police saw Peters and noticed he was drunk. They then heard him made a derogatory remark about one of the female officers present, he was warned to stop, but he made another comment, then refused to comply with officers so was taken into custody.

He was also found in possession of a small amount of cannabis.

When interviewed, Peters said he had gone to watch the football, had taken some cannabis and could not remember what had happened after that.

Peters, who represented himself, said: "I feel ashamed of myself and I am sorry for what I have done.

"I'd like to think of myself as a decent member of society."

Magistrates told Peters his behaviour "was not fantastic that night" but did take into account his remorse and previous good character.

The cannabis was to be seized and destroyed, and Peters must pay court costs of £85 plus a £20 victim surcharge.
