Keeping cool and not to fall out with others is one woman's advice as she celebrates her 100th birthday.

Elsie Ingman has lived in Buckley all her life and she now celebrates the centenary at Lexham Green nursing home, Buckley.

The 100-year-old said she is friends with everyone and doesn't see the point in falling out with others.

She added: "My doctor told me I must have good genes. I don't feel 100, I feel about 60."

The centenarian celebrated the event with a party surrounded by family and friends, and during the Buckley Jubilee the Royal Buckley Band performed happy birthday when they went past.

Elsie's dad, Frank Revil, was a member of the band and she told the Leader of how although he was deaf, he was a conductor and they used to practise in their front sitting room.

She said: "I've never missed a jubilee. I used to go up and down when dad was there and to see him standing by the gate near our house in his uniform with his trumpet thing, it was a site to see, it was lovely."

Elsie has been at Lexham Green nursing home for about four years and staff say she is a vital part to their family.

Diane Workman, deputy manager, said: "Elsie has been independent for most of her life until she came to live at Lexham Green, she lived at home on her own.

"She's always been a very proud lady and always has a sense of humour, she likes a laugh and a joke."
