POLICE have launched an appeal for information following the theft of a car in Mancot.

The car, a blue Vauxhall Astra VXR, was taken some time during the early hours of Tuesday morning from an address on Wilton Road after the keys were taken following a break in.

The car, belonging to Michael Hughes who has only had it for 10 months, has the registration CX62 UCU, however it is likely to have since been changed.

A police spokesman said: ''On 10th July at 10.45am we were called to an address on Wilton Road in Mancot where a car had been stolen after the keys were taken during a break in between 10.45pm on the 9th and 6.30am on the 10th.''

Anyone with information they think might help police with their enquiries can call 101 quoting crime reference number WO94838.

The theft is the latest in a spate of car thefts in the Flintshire and Wrexham area following the theft of a BMW and Volkswagen Passat from Ruabon and a Volkswagen Golf in Buckley between Monday, July 9 and Tuesday, July 10.

A spokesman said: "Remember; keep keys in a safe place away from doors and windows. Don't leave your keys on view at home or at work. After getting home lock the door behind you."
