The Leader:

WREXHAM drew 2-2 in their latest friendly against Louletano DC at the impressive Estadio Algarve stadium.

The match was part of the club's pre-season tour to the Algarve and Wrexham were pegged back after taking a two goal lead against their Portuguese third tier hosts.

Manager Sam Ricketts named different sides in both halves of the opening two friendlies but with no youth team players making the trip to Portugal, he went into the Louletano clash with a smaller squad.

Defender Kevin Roberts was the only one of the 18 players on duty in the Algarve who wasn't involved because of a slight groin problem while new signing Rekeil Pyke, back at Wrexham for a second spell on a season-long loan deal from Huddersfield Town, was named among the substitutes along with two trialists.

Wrexham, seeing a lot of the ball, took the lead in the 15th minute.

Mark Carrington sent in a superb cross from the right and Mike Fondop found the net with a bullet header from close range.

Wrexham were immediately forced into a change as goalkeeper Rob Lainton replaced Christian Dibble who had picked up a injury.

But it failed to knock Wrexham's rhythm and it was 2-0 after 26 minutes.

The home side's goalkeeper collided with Fondop and a defender after trying to punch the ball clear and Nicky Deverdics supplied a superb finish.

Louletano had two half chances without threatening the Wrexham goal at the end of the first half, while Ricketts made a couple of changes for the start of the second period with Luke Summerfield and Paul Rutherford replacing Shaun Pearson, who had picked up a knock just before the break, and Fondop.

Akil Wright switched to centre-back with Pearson absent, while Louletano pulled a goal back on 51 minutes, scoring with a header from a free-kick into the area.

Luke Young wasn't far away from reclaiming Wrexham's two-goal lead before Ricketts made his final three changes with an hour gone, Cameron Stewart, Blake Robinson and Pyke replacing James Jennings, Deverdics and Chris Holroyd.

And the home side claimed a draw in the closing minutes, scoring with a header from a throw-in.

Wrexham (4-2-3-1): Dibble (Lainton 17); Carrington, M Smith, Pearson (Summerfield 46), Jennings (Stewart 61); Young, Wright; L Smith, Deverdics (Robinson 61), Holroyd (Pyke 61); Fondop (Rutherford 46)
