A man has died following a fire at his flat in Wrexham.
It has been confirmed today that the man died at the scene of the blaze at Garner Road.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call shortly before 2.30pm on Wednesday reporting the building blaze.
Police officers and crime scene investigators were also called to the scene, as were three ambulance vehicles.
A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "The cause of the fire is under investigation.
"The matter has been referred to the coroner for investigation and the fire and rescue service are assisting the coroner with this."
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We had a call from the fire service at 2.35pm and we sent two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and the air ambulance was assigned but later stood down."
A nearby resident, who asked not to be named, said she first heard a fire alarm sounding from the property - then the fire crews arrived and began banging on the windows.
Firefighters then brought a man out from the building, the woman said.
