WREXHAM won 2-1 in their first pre-season friendly under Sam Ricketts against Lex XI.
Former Wales international Ricketts, who has taken up his first managerial role at The Racecourse, fielded all his available professionals, youth team players and trialists in the match which consisted two 30 minute halves versus the Welsh National League side.
Chris Holroyd, top scorer last season, gave Wrexham, with senior players on display, an early lead in the first half and it remained 1-0 until Lex equalised just before the break.
Youngsters and trialists took to the pitch for the second period and it was one of the latter - Michael Elstone - that secured victory and gave the Reds and Ricketts a winning start to pre-season.
