A 34-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the attempted murder of a policeman in Wallasey.
Stuart Whittaker, of Beech Grove, Whitby, Ellesmere Port, has also been charged with wounding, threats to kill and threats with an offensive weapon in a public place.
He was remanded into custody to appear at Wirral magistrates court today (Friday, June 29).
No further action has been taken against a 31 year-old woman who was arrested.
Emergency services were called at around 11.40pm on Wednesday, June 27, following reports of a disturbance at a house on Turret Road.
When officers arrived a man left the house and swung an axe towards a policeman outside the house while making verbal threats.

A woman then picked up the axe outside the house but was then detained.
When police entered the house they discovered a 30-year-old man who had sustained two lacerations to the head. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
