CORONATION Street stars will be joining in with the fun at a forthcoming town event.

Mold Carnival - which takes place on Sunday, July 8 - will once again be taking over the town with entertainment and activities throughout day.

The event has three main areas for visitors throughout the day, including the main stage which this year will be located on Kendricks Field.

The main stage will feature a host of live entertainment and musical performances to suit all tastes with performances including Mold Town Concert Band, Mountain Harmony ladies acapella group, singer songwriter Andy Bellis and popular pop/rock covers band Universal Exports.

Joining the line-up the main stage with be dance groups Urban Fusion and Buckley Cheerleaders and master of the mystery Jay Gatling.

The Grand Final of Mold's talent contest Time2Shine will be held on the main stage and organisers have said the competition is extremely high as nine very talented individuals will battle it out to be the winner.

Sherrie Hewson - star of Benidorm, Coronation Street and Loose Woman - will be at the carnival all day joining in the parade, carrying out meet and greets as well as a question and answer session on the stage.

Also joining in the carnival fun is TV and stage actor Andrew Lancel, best known for his 10 year role as DI Neil Manson in The Bill and ultimate soap villain Frank Foster in Coronation Street.

Mr Lancel will be supporting his 10 year old son Isaac, a talented vocalist, dancer and all round performer who will be singing on the main stage during the day.

The main stage is hosted once again for the 5th year by Reece Ryan, who on July 5 will be receiving the BCA (The British Citizen Award) for services to entertainment and charity at an awards presentation at the Houses of Parliament.

Kendricks Field will also play host to the North Clwyd Animal Rescue fun filled dog show as well as a 100ft inflatable assault course and lots of other activities, stalls, food and drink.

Daniel Owen Square will host the entertainment and community stage with around 200 performers taking to the stage throughout the day.

There will also be a number of singing performances from local groups including Buzz Ah and Glan Aber Choir and popular entertainer DJ Cookie will be providing lots of fun and games as he hosts the community stage.

He will be introducing a fierce dance battle when a variety of mascots from bears, cookie monsters to large bumble bees as they battle it out to be crowned Mold Carnival Mascot Dance-Off winner 2018.

There will be a variety of stalls throughout the Daniel Owen Precinct and Square along with food, drink and fun fair on the High Street.

Visitors to the carnival can hop on board the free land train which will run throughout the day from Earl Road to Kendricks Field, which is only a short stroll away from the Daniel Owen Precinct.

The carnival Parade starts at 10.30am from New Street car park and will proceed through the town down to Kendricks Field and the carnival is expected to go on till around 6.00pm.

Mold Carnival, which is free to attend, is organised by a a small group of volunteers and all proceeds from the event go towards putting on community events in Mold.
