THREE MEN from Wrexham and Flintshire have completed a 3,000 mile journey in aid of charity.

Tim Fellows from Hawarden and Pete Lloyd and Robert Beck, both from Cefn-y-Bedd travelled to the Spanish town of Benidorm in just six days as part of the 'Benidorm or Bust' banger car rally.

The trio are all new fathers and decided to do the journey to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.

The rules of the event stipulate that the car must cost lest than £300 and the teams pick a theme, with most of the teams going for a movie inspiration.

To this end, Tim and the team raced as team Mad to the Max, with them driving a Mad Max themed Mercedes CLK.

Tim said: "It was a great adventure. 3,000 miles is quite a challenge, we needed two new tyres and some hose split but that was it.

"And we only got pulled over once, just as we passed through the checkpoint into Spain.

"My wife thought I was crazy. She wondered why I would want to spend six days dressed all in black in the heat with three of my mates. But I look back at it now and I'm smiling.

"The target was to raise was £1,000 and we've nearly done that. Some do the drive for fun but we wanted to set ourselves a challenge.

"You can leave the car in Benidorm, but we chose to drive it back again. I'd probably like to do it again."
