PARTS of a power plans could be demolished in order to 'remove redundant assets'.

A planning application for prior notification has been submitted to Flintshire Council for the proposed demolition work at Deeside Power Station in Weighbridge Road.

In a letter provided with the plans Andrew Copley, station manager at Deeside Power (UK) Limited, explains: "The demolition is required to remove redundant assets.

"The works will include the dismantling of all recyclable and recoverable plant and equipment for off-site disposal (sale or re-use) including without limitation: plant power house, storage tanks, water tanks, cooling tower, plant and equipment, administrative buildings, concrete walls and slabs.

"Once the site has been cleared the land will be available for use for industrial development by the landowner."
