WREXHAM Council are imploring residents to check who is collecting their rubbish, following an increase in fly tipping across the county.

The council has reported that since Christmas, they have had to deal with 250 separate incidents of fly tipping.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport, said: “There are shocking instances of fly-tipping on social media and it costs us to remove it. We always to check if there is anything in the rubbish to identify the owner and if so we will not hesitate to prosecute.

"Please, either use a reputable firm or use our bulky collection or even pay a visit to one of the three household recycling centres. Please don’t leave it to chance and risk prosecution because of someone else’s dubious behaviour.”

The council are now asking people to check if the person collecting rubbish has a Waste Carrier’s Licence.

Wrexham council also offers a kerbside collection of garden/organic waste and a bulky collection service which will take furniture, white goods, garden equipment, carpet and electronic equipment.
