CRAFT groups from Gresford have been showing off their work in a week long exhibition.

The annual exhibition, held at the Memorial Hall and the All Saints Church, allows members of the Gresford Craft Group and Gresford Quilting Circle to show off their creations from the last year, all while raising money for charity.

This year the main attraction of the event is the massive collection of knitted poppies.

Crafters have made over 1,300 poppies to mark the end of the First World War and hope to show them off later in the year on Remembrance Day.

Jayne Mumford, event organiser, said: "We've had quite a few people come through. It's an exhibition to show off the work of the craft group, while at the same time raising money for charity.

"We don't make a profit, all of the money raised goes to local charities and the All Saints Church.

"This year is one of the best we have done. We will also have a raffle and plant sales as well as some lovely cakes and refreshments."

Money raised goes to Nightingale House, Gresford Church, Gresford Memorial Trust and Macmillan.

The exhibition is open from 10.30am until 8pm but on the final day on Friday will close at 5pm.
