A FAMILY fun day is being held in memory of a much missed former footballer.

It has been ten years since Jonathan 'Jonnie' Radcliffe, died from bowel cancer at the young age of 28 and his family and friends have honoured his memory in many ways ever since.

This year, they are holding a family fun day at Gresford Trust Memorial Hall and grounds on Saturday, June 23 with a feast of fun activities taking place, including a dog show, gymnastics, tennis, golf and a football penalty shoot-out.

Jonnie was a former player at Gresford Athletic and a mini football tournament will take place from 10am before the family fun starts at 1pm and run until 8pm.

His mum Gill said that entry to the fun day is free and although its main aim is to celebrate Jonnie’s life they are hoping to raise money for Beating Bowel Cancer so there will be buckets for donations.

She said: "Over the last 10 years friends and family have raised over £90,000 for this and other cancer charities with many fundraising activities.

"We all hope the fundraising will have made a difference and helped to prevent others having to suffer the loss of a loved one.

"The fun day is an opportunity for us all to come together and share the memories that we treasure."

The Tenovus Choir will be singing and there will be live bands throughout the afternoon and evening, with refreshments available all day including a licensed bar.

All are welcome and for those who cannot attend that wish to donate, you can do so on www.justgiving/fundraising/rattie-10year-family-funday.
