TWO CHILDREN have had their bicycles stolen in a broad daylight theft.

George Roberts Brown and Joseph Roberts, both 13, were riding through Bellevue Park on Sunday afternoon when they were approached by two people who demanded their bicycles.

Andrea Roberts, mother of George Roberts Brown said: "They were just having a day out. They said they'd seen the boys earlier and that they had followed them into the park.

"They're nice boys and these lads have stolen their bikes and rode off on them.

"The park is quite a big place and you can be quite vulnerable when you're out on your own.

"My son won't sleep on his own now. They're lovely boys and they're absolutely distraught. It's a really scary thing to happen to them.

A police spokesman confirmed that in Bellevue Park at around 4.20pm on Sunday, two men roughly around 17 or 18-years-of-age took the bicycles after threatening to hit the boys.

The two men were said to be wearing blue jumpers and black joggers and one had dark hair while the other was blond.

The bicycles are orange and grey (Scott) and blue and black (carrera).
