A CO-OP employee described as a 'chatterbox' took part in a sponsored silence to fundraise for a charity who provided bereavement counselling for her daughter.
Dianne Parry, 57, from Broughton remained tight-lipped in the Broughton store for 6 hours on Tuesday 5 June to raise funds for Nightingale Hospice in Wrexham, a charity close to her family's heart.
Dianne's daughter Hanane Parry, 19, was brutally murdered in Liverpool in 2003, and Nightingale have since provided vital bereavement counselling for Hanane's sister, who does not want to be named.
As part of the counselling, she designed a book where she profiled members of her family, in which she described mum Dianne as 'the noisiest' of the Parrys.
Coupled with the fact that Dianne already has a reputation for being able to talk, the sponsored silence was a no-brainer for her when she heard the Broughton Co-op were looking for fundraising ideas.
Dianne has raised £380.00 for Nightingale Hospice so far, but she says the donations just keep on coming.
Dianne said: ''When I heard we were looking for fundraising ideas, the sponsored silence seemed a great one because everyone always says how much of a chatterbox I am. Since finishing the sponsored silence, the donations just keep flying in.
''For me it is really important to raise this money for Nightingale, they showed with my daughter that they help people in many more ways than just support for people suffering from life limiting illness., ways that people probably aren't aware of. It's been for a truly great cause.''
