A FUN day in memory of a young electrical engineer raised more than £1,500 for charity.

The Leader reported last month how Holywell resident Adele Morris set out to make more people aware of the auto immune disease colitis, a complication of which which was the main factor in her son James Hurst's death.

James died on December 15 last year at the age of 25.

Miss Morris, along with family members and friends, organised a fun day in her son's memory to raise awareness of colitis - which causes an inflammation in the bowel - as well as to raise funds for the charity Chron's and Colitis UK.

The event took place on Sunday at the Abbots Arms in Pen-y-Maes Road, Holywell and Miss Morris said she was delighted with the outcome.

She explained: "It was absolutely brilliant, we had about 200 people there throughout the day and we raised £1,700 for the charity.

"Me and my family are over whelmed at how kind everyone was and all the businesses that donated gifts for the raffle.

"We managed to tell a lot of people about colitis as well.

"It was a big success and I'm sure James would have been proud."

The fun day offered a range of activities for all ages including performances by local bands and a DJ, bouncy castles, food and drink, a raffle and more.
