AN OUTDOOR theatre event inspired by myths and legends was a success, organisers have said.

MythFest Wales took place at Talacre on Sunday and saw about 80 people turn out over morning and afternoon sessions.

The event featured a variety of outdoor performances based on Welsh myths and legends.

Vanessa Warrington, owner of Halkyn Castle Wood caravan park and project manager for the event, said she hopes upcoming Mythfests in other locations continue to attract more and more people in order to potentially expand it to other areas.

She added: "It was great, everyone wo was there really enjoyed themselves.

"I am part of the Clwydian Range Tourism Group and we received £40,000 from the Visit Wales tourism product innovation fund.

"The fund is for community groups and business groups to develop products to attract visitors to their areas.

"I have always wanted to combine outdoor theatre with a really good environmental message. It is also to encourage businesses to do something for themselves to attract visitors to this part of Wales.

"This has been 18 months in the making and it has been fantastic - we had 30 people in the morning and 50 in the afternoon.

"The capacity is 200 in each session and we do have one coming up at Llandegla on June 17, which would make a nice father's day gift.

"If we can get more people to take part it is something we might be able to expand."

There will also be two more Mythfest events in September.
