PLANS are in the pipeline to turn a Gwersyllt newsagents into a hot food takeaway.

The newsagents on Hope Street in Gwersyllt is currently on the market, but in a bid to drum up interest, the owners have applied to Wrexham Council to change the use of the building.

A design and access statement submitted on behalf of the applicant states: "The unit is currently on the market along the adjoining dwelling.

"Our client has had some interest.

"However, there has been no interest to purchase the property to keep the building as retail.

"The owners of the unit have realised that with the lack of interest to sell as retail, the best alternative was to offer the unit for a different use."

Hope Street is one of the main roads running through Gwersyllt and and leads onto Mold Road, linking Mold to Wrexham.

The application states that there are many parking facilities within the immediate locality of the unit and that this would be ideal for the conversion to a hot food outlet as customers to the site would only be visiting at short times to collect their food.

Wrexham Council's planning committee will make a decision on the application at a future date.
