A FATHER and son trekked up Mount Snowdon to raise more than £1,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.

Graham Bryan, 38 and son Callum, 6, from Mold conquered Wales’ highest mountain on Friday in tough weather conditions to raise the money for the charity.

Alzheimer’s Society is a charity close to the heart of Graham, whose grandfather Newton Bryan passed away after a battle with the disease, which is the most common form of dementia.

And dementia is now the leading cause of death in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Graham and Callum, who attends Ysgol Mynydd Isa, battled rain, strong winds and even lighting storms to complete the climb in a time of 3 hours and 5 minutes. This was before taking a more relaxed route back down in the form of the Snowdon Mountain Railway, much to the delight of train-mad Callum.

Graham works at Nice-Pak International in Flint, who have agreed to match the money raised through the sponsorship he received from his fellow employees.

Graham said: ‘’We are so proud of Callum, our 6 year old, for walking to the Snowden summit.

‘’It was in aide of all the families affected by the disease and raising just over a £1000 for Alzheimer’s society is a great achievement.’’
