FORMER Royal Welsh Fusiliers are set to release an album as acoustic folk band, Busk til Dawn.

Percussionist Josh Parry, from Mostyn and lead singer Martyn Ellis, from Rhuddlan served on tours of Afghanistan together and turned to music when they left the army.

Since then they have spent three years travelling around the world playing music along with bandmate and experienced bass guitarist Kyle Jones, including a tour from Canada to South America finishing on Christmas Day last year.

Mr Parry said: “Our songs are about our travels and how it has helped us with the change from soldier to civilian.

“Through all our experiences while travelling, we would note everything down and then make music out of them.

“A lot of people are afraid to travel so our songs tell you to give it a go if you aren’t tied down because it’s honestly life changing.”

After returning from their travels, the three men have performed gigs across Wales and the North West while working on their album.

They are happy to say that people are loving their music.

When asked if he had ever expected to make an album, Mr Perry said: “Not at all. I’ve always enjoyed my music but for me it’s been a massive change in lifestyle.”

Busk til Dawn are set to release an album of ten tracks on June 8 which will be available to buy through iTunes and Spotify.

They are also hosting an Australian themed release party at The North in Rhyl from 7pm that day to promote the album.

This event will have free entry and includes a support act from Australian musician Daryl James and a BBQ.
