A TWO-VEHICLE collision on the A55 Expressway near Chester caused severe rush-hour commuter disruption this afternoon.
The incident was reported between the Posthouse Roundabout (junction 38) and the Sainsbury's Roundabout (junction 39) on the inside lane, where a vehicle came to a halt facing the wrong way with damage to the front.
Cheshire police and North Wales Ambulance Service were deployed to the scene and a traffic cone cordon was put in place, reducing the road to one lane.
The incident caused significant congestion on Wrexham Road to the Posthouse Roundabout in both directions and from the A55.
A Cheshire police spokesperson said: "At 3pm today (Wednesday, May 30), police were called to reports of a collision on the A55 Chester Southerly-by-Pass in Eccleston involving two vehicles – a Peugeot and an HGV.
"Officers are at the scene and there aren’t believed to be any injuries."
The lane has now fully reopened following the incident.
