A TV chef is opening a new restaurant at a luxury holiday park in Wrexham.

The latest venture of Mark Ellis will be called The Shippon and opens on Friday May 25 at the Plassey Holiday Park in Eyton.

Mr Ellis, who represented the North West on the popular BBC series ‘Great British Menu’ two years in a row, has said he will bring the same philosophy to the Shippon as he had to his first successful restaurant, Allium, in Tattenhall, Cheshire.

He said: "We will be using cookery techniques, old and new, to create a culinary experience, using local suppliers and produce where we can, to create stunning dishes that can’t be experienced anywhere else, whether it is a light snack or lunch, steak and a glass of wine or a 6-course tasting menu experience.

"I believe my style of food will complement the already superb product and philosophy of the park.

"I’m excited to show off, not only the food but, the team and their casual, yet professional service, and I’m looking forward to our restaurant becoming a part of the local community."

The opening of the restaurant will provide another feather in the cap of the Plassey Holiday Park, which has enjoyed its luxury status for many years, and has recently been awarded the AA Platinum Status, a new grading for elite establishments.

John and Sarah Brookshaw, owners of the park, said they were delighted to be working with Mark Ellis on the new business venture and are always striving to provide their customers with the highest standards.

They said: "Mark’s fantastic culinary background was exactly what we were looking for in a partnership to provide an affordable and bespoke luxury dining experience in our area.

"We can’t wait to open the doors and welcome you all very soon."
