HOUSE prices are on the rise once again in Cheshire West and Chester, as the average cost of a home in the borough inches closer to £200,000.

New data revealed this week showed property prices rose 1.4% in March 2018, compared with the previous month, and up 4.1% year on year.

It had followed three consecutive months of small declines.

An average home in Cheshire West and Chester now costs £197,768 – slightly down from its record high in November 2017 of £199,157.

The average price of a detached home is now £310,034, a semi-detached home £186,900, a terraced home £149,298 and a typical flat or maisonette now has a price tag of £116,619.

In addition, data revealed by the Land Registry and analysed by the BBC showed there were a total of 17 homes sold in Cheshire West and Chester for £1 million or more.

The study, which looked at the trends from 2007-2017, showed 100 homes had been sold for £1 million or more during that time, with the most expensive during that time being £3.2 million.

Across England and Wales, a total of 16,119 property sales for £1 million or more were completed last year, up 5.4% from the previous high in 2016.
