A GREEN-THINKING Chester man is prepared to go the extra mile this July in aid of a project which aims to see SuperTrees sprouting in the city.

Steve Hughes is behind Chester's SuperTrees, a plan to transform the Hoole Way Roundabout near the city's new bus station into a thriving eco space.

The centrepiece of the proposed space would be three new SuperTrees sculptures based on the iconic Singapore structures, symbolically representing biodiversity in the city.

The plans, which Cheshire West and Chester Council is prepared to support if planning permission is approved, would also see the current overgrown landscape given a big makeover.

As part of the project's funding requirements, Steve is planning to run 100km (about 62 miles) in just 10 hours.

He will tackle this challenge at the roundabout on a treadmill on Saturday, July 21.

People are invited to show their support to Steve on the day, as there will be food stalls, music, events and performances throughout the day.
