Chester coach Jan Van Deventer hailed Ford's inclusion, calling his captain a 'real club man'.

He said: "Guy has steered the team on and off the field.

"He's a real club man who has gone out of his way to help across all areas of the club. He is very well liked an respected among the players because he leads by example and demands the same focus and commitment he gives from everyone else.

"Guy has an excellent rugby brain and makes very good decisions in the heat of battle and his relationship with referees has been excellent."
