HMP Berwyn, Wrexham
A MAN has been taken to hospital after a fire at HMP Berwyn on Wrexham Industrial Estate.
The emergency services were called to the prison shortly before 12.30pm on Thursday afternoon.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called today (Thursday, May 17) to reports of a fire at a premises on Wrexham Industrial Estate.
"We responded with two crews in emergency ambulances, where a male patient was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.”
A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they were called at 12.30pm about reports of a fire and that two appliances attended the scene.
