RESIDENTS are being invited to a series of workshops to find out how they can have their say on a proposed Traveller site.

The events, which will be run by Llay and Bradley county councillors, concern a proposed Gypsy site at Llay New Road.

A spokesman for Llay Action Group group said: "The Wrexham Council local development plan consultation ends May 31, so all comments must be in by that date or they won't count.

"LDP response guidelines are complex and time consuming. The workshops are designed to simplify the process and will offer support."

The first of the workshops, which will also feature a presentation, will take place at Bradley Village Hall today from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Cllr Bryan Apsley of Llay ward said: "We want people to be there - there will be a quick summary of where we're up to and then we will be helping people to fill the form out.

"Attendance at the meetings we have had so far has been good. I have found nobody in favour of it yet."

The remainder of the workshops will take place as follows: Friday at 6pm to 8pm at Llay Miners Welfare; Monday at 9.30am to 12pm at Llay Resource Centre and 6.30pm at Gresford Colliery Club; Wednesday, May 23 at 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Llay Legion; Thursday, May 24 at 2pm to 5pm at Llay Resource Centre, Monday, May 28 at 11am to 3pm at the Hack Horse Sanctuary in Mill Lane, Bradley.

Llay Action Group is an independent group set up to oppose the proposal.

The group has arranged for professional surveys covering highways, geological, ecological and other issues along with planning consultants to put their case together.

The group is welcoming donations to help cover the cost of this work.
