A HEROIN addict who threatened a neighbour with a screwdriver has been jailed for eight months.

David Miller went on a rampage of criminality in Caia Park after taking a quantity of the drug.

Prosecutor Justin Espie told Wrexham Magistrates' Court that Miller was chased away from a Vauxhall Astra whose window had been damaged. Items were taken from the car, including hair dye and a phone charger.

Then armed with the screwdriver Miller made threats and damaged a letter box at a property.

"He ran at a couple with a screwdriver and was threatening to use it," said Mr Espie.

"He used it to stab the door of a house. Then he walked over to another victim and threatened to stab her with a "Stanley knife", while he also targeted three windows at three houses in the locality."

Miller, 42, of Tan Y Bryn, Caia Park admitted possession of an offensive weapon on April 19. He also pleaded guilty to a threatening behaviour charge and two counts of criminal damage, all on the same day.

And he admitted making threats to commit criminal damage and theft from a vehicle.

Justine McVitie, defending said Miller had taken a quantity of diamorphine before committing the offences.

"The rest of the morning passed in a bit of a blur. One of the witnesses knows him and he was identified.

"All the offences were committed at Tay Y Bryn which is where he lives and they were all committed in a short space of time.

"He is genuinely remorseful."

Miller was sentenced to six months in prison for six months for possession of an offensive weapon and two months for the threat to cause criminal damage, which is to run consecutively.

Magistrates also ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £140.
