An appeal has been launched after an unwell dog having a seizure was found alone in Wrexham.

The very unwell Staffordshire bull terrier was found by a member of the public in the town's Moss Valley Park.

The male dog, dark brindle and white in colour, was found in an “appalling state” on Thursday evening.

He was having a seizure, and appeared very thin – so was taken to a local veterinary practice.

Sadly, the condition of the dog was so bad that independent vets were left with no choice but to put the dog to sleep on welfare grounds.

RSPCA Cymru is looking to decipher why the unwell dog was allowed to be staggering around Moss Valley Park on Thursday evening in such urgent need of help.

Kia Thomas, RSPCA inspector, said: “This poor dog was found by a member of the public in an appalling state.

“Independent vets decided that – due to seizures, and the animal’s poor condition - the Staffordshire bull terrier had to be put to sleep for welfare reasons.

“We’re urgently trying to find out how this unwell dog came to be roaming around Moss Valley Park in Wrexham on Thursday evening.

“Anyone with information can contact our inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018 – with all calls treated in confidence.”
