RESIDENTS of a Wrexham street say they plan to follow up a successful litter pick as they bid to stamp out rubbish and fly tipping.
Beechley Road Residents' Association spent a Saturday morning clearing up the mess they say is a regular feature on the street in Hightown.
They were joined by staff from Wrexham Council's community team and a representative of Keep Wales Tidy.
A spokesman for the residents' group said: "We got two bins installed on the street, but there is a problem with fly tipping.
"The whole road is poor and part of the problem is that people are leaving their bins in front of their properties.
"Due to overflowing residential bins in front gardens and the street litter bins, as well as those who use the street as a thoroughfare dropping litter, the mess in the street has become an increasing problem."
The residents' association wants to recruit more members in their quest to tackle filth and says anyone interested in taking part in the spruce ups can find dates for its meetings on posters placed on telegraph poles on the street.
It is hoping to stage another litter pick in the near future, but the spokesman added: "We are pleading with everyone to keep the street clean so that future 'clean-ups' are not necessary. We believe Beechley Road is a great place to live. Let's be proud of our street together."
