A MAN covered a probation officer in water after kicking a cat dish in anger during a home visit.

Ashley Butterfield, 23, of was on a post custodial supervision order when the incident happened on February 6.

Court Legal advisor put it to Butterfield that he had broken his supervision terms by being verbally abusive to the offender manager during a home visit and kicking the dish, covering her in water.

Butterfield, of Holborn Crescent in Brynteg, admitted breaching the order.

Emma Simoes, defending, said that Butterfield had not been in the best of moods when he woke up and he accepted that he was not very happy when he answered the door.

He kicked the cat's dish accidentally, but accepted that the water had gone on the offender manager. .

Butterfield chased after the manager to express his remorse, Miss Simoes added.

The Leader reported in January last year how Butterfield had been jailed for an unprovoked attack outside a Wrexham chip shop.

Butterfield had really turned things around since coming out of custody in May last year, the court heard

He was living with his girlfriend, had not committed any new substantive offences and had attended all his appointments,

Miss Simoes told magistrates: "I have never seen him quite so motivated. If I'm honest with you, I have never seen him quite so anxious about going into custody."

Probation officer Andrew Connah said that the recommendation on a report was for two weeks in custody.

But he suggested unpaid work, as Butterfield had engaged fully since the breach, had apologised numerous times for his behaviour and was seeking treatment with CAIS.

Magistrates imposed 40 hours of unpaid work £150 in costs.
