WREXHAM Council has announced that from April 1, residents will be charged for having more than one green recycling bin.

As part of their 'Difficult Decisions' budget process, it has been announced that homeowners will be charged £30 annually for every extra green bin that they own, though the council stress that they will continue to empty one bin free of charge.

If you have extra bins then they now need to be registered with the council and once registered a sticker will be sent to your address, to be placed on the bin.

The council also advise that bins should be marked withy house names or numbers.

Councillor David A Bithell, lead member for the Environment and Transport, said: “I would like to thank everyone who took the time to take part in our consultation for their comments which has helped us make the difficult decisions. Everyone will still get their first green bin emptied with no extra charge.”
