CHRIS Sharp’s struck an opening night hat-trick as TNS strolled to a comfortable victory over Prestatyn Town.

The Saints could have won by more with Sharp in particular a threat having already impressed during the Oswestry club’s foray into Europe.

Sharp broke the deadlock after just five minutes after peeling away from the defence to steer home Chris Seargeant’s left wing cross.

Prestatyn continued to soak up pressure with goalkeeper Jon Dunt parrying away a Barry Hogan rasper before another left wing cross from Seargeant was met by Craig Jones to double the lead.

However the hailed TNS defensive backline was breached directly from kick-off with summer signing Lee Hunt opening his account.

The entertaining season opener continued and on 24 minutes another excellent delivery from Seargeant saw ex-Bangor City team-mate Sharp complete his brace.

TNS were now in complete control and ended the half on top with the influential Sharp a constant danger.

Sharp went inches wide of completing his hat-trick early in the second-half but it was only a matter of time before the Saints were celebrating a decisive fourth goal.

This time a clever throughball from veteran Scott Ruscoe saw Danny Holmes breach the defence and plant an unstoppable shot beyond Dunt from 16 yards.

Jones went close to completing his brace but it was the Seasiders who scored on 83 minutes to the delight of their supporters.

Ex-Newtown, Caersws, Welshpool and Aberystwyth Town midfielder Ross Stephens marked his debut by crossing for Hunt to head home his second of the match.

However, TNS had the final say and fittingly it was Sharp who completed the scoring to seal an opening night hat-trick.

Danny Holmes was clumsily hauled down in the area by Dave Hayes with the resulting penalty dispatched by Sharp.

With time running out Sharp laid on substitute Alex Darlington who forced a tremendous last gasp save from the visiting goalkeeper.
