MARK Griffiths netted the winner as Caersws celebrated a second successive victory.

The ex-Newtown and Llanfair United striker stunned Nomads goalkeeper Terry McCormick with a fine shot into the roof of the net, after 41 minutes.

Caersws spurned further openings to put the game to bed, while also surviving a late barrage from the visitors, who now face an uphill struggle to secure a coveted top 10 finish.

Manager Mickey Evans said: “I’m pleased for the lads. Over the last five or six games our performances have warranted more points so it’s been good to get two wins on the bounce.

“The lads have worked hard and must keep on working as hard to keep on climbing the table in coming weeks.”

Once again Griffiths was the Bluebirds’ saviour having netted the last gasp winner against Cefn Druids on the weekend.

Jacob Smith and Chris Melia also went close, while Griffiths was only denied a second by McCormick in the second-half.

Nomads laid siege late on but a staunch Caersws defence held firm for glory.
