MANNY SMITH has re-joined Wrexham, 12 months after being released by the club.
The centre-back has signed a two-year deal at The Racecourse after Gateshead boss Neil Aspin agreed to release him from his contract a year early.
Smith started all 61 league and cup games during the 2014-15 season with Wrexham, scooping a host of player of the year awards from the various fans’ groups.
Although Wrexham challenged for the play-offs during his second campaign, Smith felt his performances were not as consistent in 2015/16 and wants to repeat his form from the first season.
“I had two different seasons at Wrexham,” said Smith. “I want to try and replicate the first season I had.
“I was played out of position a lot in the second season but I want to try and give people my first season.
“That is what I signed for and I know anything short of that is not going to be good enough for the way we want to go.
“I wasn’t the same player in the second season. I definitely think I had a better first season and that is what people want to see.”
