CONVICTED flasher Gregory James Dudds has been jailed for six months for breaching the requirements of the sex register.

A court heard Dudds, 45, was a sex offender whose registered address was with his former mother-in-law in Bryn Yorkin, Caergwrle.

But he had not lived there for about six weeks and was arrested outside a psychiatric unit in Wrexham on Monday.

He said he had been a voluntary patient at the Hafan Unit at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for two weeks because of depression and anxiety. Asked where he had lived previously, he refused to comment but it emerged he had been working abroad, said Justin Espie, prosecuting.

Dudds admitted breaching the order by failing to give police his address – his second such conviction.

Flintshire magistrates were told he had a previous conviction after he went on holiday to Spain without notifying the police.

Electrician Dudds was convicted of exposing himself as a young family drove past in Fagl Lane, Hope. He was placed on a community order and placed on the sex offender register for five years but the court ruled he should continue to sign the sex offender register for five years.

He tried to clear his name in May when he appealed to Mold Crown Court but the appeal was rejected.

Rod Williams, defending, said Dudds did not accept the conviction. He believed he was innocent and had not committed the offence. He was under the influence of alcohol at the time and had simply stopped to relieve himself in a bush.

“He has never accepted the conviction and that explains why he finds it difficult to accept that he must be on the sex register,” said Mr Williams.

Magistrates said they regarded it as a wilful breach of a court order and custody was the only option.

He had chosen to go and work abroad and appeared to be incapable of accepting any responsibility for his actions.
