OUTGOING Wrexham FC owner Geoff Moss has told the Leader he regrets ever getting involved with the club.

But the man who has been at the helm for some five years say he leaves The Racecourse without bitterness.

Mr Moss helped to take the club out of administration in 2006 in a deal with business partner Neville Dickens.

He said he was “delighted” the WST takeover deal had now gone through and that Wrexham were pushing for promotion.

But he said pressure on his family over the past nine months had at times been “indescribable”.

He said: “I do regret getting involved, but you can’t go back in time.

“I don’t leave with bitterness but I do leave with regret.”

Mr Moss said he hoped the takeover would bring stability to the club.

“Wrexham is enjoying success at the top of the league and I hope we can push on back to the Football League. I would like to thank the trust board, staff and players – particularly Dean Saunders and Brian Carey. I wish Andy Morrell well. I believe he would be the best choice as the new manager.”

Mr Moss said he was pleased at the success of Wrexham’s youth development centre during his time at the club, adding: “It has gone from strength to strength.

“I think it is one of the best of its kind for where we are. I would be delighted to continue to help in the future.”

His disappointments on the pitch included being relegated from the league, but he tipped former boss Saunders to go on to great things .

Mr Moss said: “I think he will be a Premiership manager in five years.”

Mr Moss said he now plans to play more golf and to travel.
