THE chart-topping Fron Male Voice choir is set to launch its fifth album next week.

The choir, which is made up of many members from the Wrexham area, has become internationally acclaimed and will launch its ‘Voices from the Valley, Ultimate Collection’ on Monday, an album of favourite tracks from the past five years along with two new numbers.

One of the highlights of the album is a special recording of Grandad, which sees the choir members accompanied by their grandchildren.

The release of the album coincides with the run-up to Grandparents’ Day on October 2 and will be released as a free download in association with an e-card, in the hope people around the UK will make use of it to send grandparents a message of love.

Dave Jones, Fron Choir’s chairman, said: “With an average age of 60, as you can imagine, a fair few of us in the choir are granddads.

“I became a grandfather two years ago, and what a wonderful thing it is.

“We’re launching Grandad and the e-card as a tribute to the valuable role that grandparents play in children’s lives and in the hope that it will help to spread some love, raise a few smiles and possibly, on Grandparents’ Day help to reconnect some of the one million children in the UK who’ve lost touch with their grandparents as a result of separation or divorce.”

The album will be launched on Monday at Whitewaters Country Hotel, Llangollen, from 4pm to 6pm and will be released on October 10.

The choir will perform a selection from the album, with the event open to the public and the group is keen to attract grandparents and grandchildren.

Its latest album will include a rendition of the classic rock ballad He Ain’t Heavy, as well as Grandad.
