DOCTORS, nurses and staff at a surgery in Rhos have posed for their own calendar.
They donned masquerade masks for the calendar which will be sold to raise funds for various good causes.
Nurse practitioner at Dr Coward and partners’ Gardden Road surgery, Sister Yvonne Jones, said: “We wanted to raise funds for local charities and have decided to produce a calendar for 2012.
“The calendar features photographs of various staff members wearing colourful masquerade masks and will be available to purchase from the surgery in October at a cost of £5.”
She said staff had been discussing what they could do to raise money to get a spirometer (a device that measures lung function) for the surgery, when they had the idea.
They decided to share the proceeds between their own equipment fund, Chirk Community Hospital’s scanner appeal, Wrexham Maelor Hospital’s shooting star appeal and Macmillan cancer support.
Sister Rachel Wright had been the driving force behind the project, Sister Jones added, and had the idea for a glamorous masquerade ball theme.
“It’s just something totally different.
“You’ve had the Calendar Girls, but I don’t think we wanted to go down that road,” she said, referring to the film based on the true story of Women’s Institute members who tastefully disrobed to raise money for Leukaemia Research.
She added: “I’d like to thank the doctors and staff for their involvement and also to thank the several local businesses that have kindly sponsored the production of the calendar.”
She also thanked Debbie Kelly photos for taking the shots and Sister Rachel Wright for organising the enterprise.
If any businesses that wish to sponsor the project should contact the surgery.
