FIRE and police investigators are probing the cause of a house fire which left the occupant needing hospital treatment.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze at the end terrace property in Bryn Hafod, Wrexham, at 4.36am on Saturday.

On arrival at the scene, the crews from Wrexham found a man unconscious in the back bedroom.

The 45-year-old man, who has not been named, was taken by ambulance to Wrexham Maelor Hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

Four breathing apparatus and two hose reels were used to tackle the fire, which was contained to the ground floor.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and a joint investigation is taking place between North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.

An area immediately around the house was cordoned off by police on Saturday morning.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “I was woken up by the blue flashing lights outside.

“I got up and looked out of the window and saw smoke coming out of the front of the house.”
