A MAN who tragically died in a road accident near Rossett was looking forward to becoming a father.

Thirty-five-year-old Kok Sek Ng, from Liverpool, who worked at the Eastern Sheraton Restaurant in Wrexham’s High Street, was killed when the Honda car he was driving collided with a tree on the A483 on Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A tribute has been paid to him by friend Li Fu Chen, also from Liverpool, who said the death was a devastating blow.

“His girlfriend is pregnant and their baby is expected in a few months. He was the manager at the restaurant and will be greatly missed – being very friendly, highly professional, and well organised.

“Everyone has been deeply shocked. This is such sad news. He was originally from Malaysia and I have known him since the late 1990s when he came to the UK.”

The North East Wales Coroner has been informed and a post mortem examination is expected to take place today.

Police were called to the scene just after 6.45am on Thursday after reports of the collision near junction seven.

The exact time of the accident has not been established and police are anxious to hear from anyone who had been on that stretch of road in the early hours of the morning.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances from Wrexham together with the technical rescue unit. The police helicopter and police dogs assisted in a search of the area and one lane of the northbound carriageway was closed for nearly four hours while officers carried out investigations.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been travelling on the A483 between midnight and 6.46am on Thursday, and who may have witnessed the collision or seen the car, to contact the roads policing unit by phoning 101.
