WREXHAM FC have cancelled friendly matches due to be played tonight (Thursday) and on Saturday.

Sources at the club have told the Leader the matches against Colwyn Bay and Ellesmere Port-based Vauxhall Motors had been called off.

It is thought the decision was taken after players refused to play in protest over unpaid wages.

A statement posted on the Wrexham FC website, referring to tonight's game only, said: "Our apologies to Colwyn Bay and all supporters, but tonight's friendly at Llanelian Road has had to be postponed due to internal issues at the Racecourse."

Full story and reaction in tomorrow's Leader.
