A MAN has been warned he faces a prison sentence in years after he was found guilty of sex offences against a little girl.

Colin Kenton, 27, denied charges of indecent assault and sex assault on a child but was convicted after a short adjournment by a Mold Crown Court jury.

Kenton, of Warren Drive, Broughton, who had been on bail, had denied all charges. He was remanded in custody pending sentence next month.

Judge Phillip Hughes warned Kenton the sentence would be one measured in years. The offence was aggravated by his previous convictions, the judge said.

In 1999 he had been placed on supervision following a sex assault on a very young boy. And in 1997 he had been cautioned for an indecent assault on a very young girl.

The present allegations, which he denied, involved a young girl aged under 10.
Kenton denied any such offence had taken place but the jury of five men and seven women rejected his evidence.

Prosecutor Karl Scholz said the girl had been touched indecently by Kenton on a number of occasions.

She had disclosed what was happening to two of her best friends.

The victim also told a member of her family who told her mother.

Police were alerted, he was arrested and interviewed, and he denied the allegations.

Oliver King, for Kenton, told the jury it was the defence case that that nothing sexual had ever taken place.
