OPERA singing siblings Richard and Adam Johnson look set to land a record deal with music giants Sony.

The pair have been wowing fans at concert halls and theatres across the UK after getting their start by winning the North Wales’ Got Talent competition at Holywell’s Victoria Hotel in February.

But Richard, 21, who works at Subway in Flint and Adam, 18, an employee at his parents’ cafe Temptations, also in Flint, have not given up their day jobs just yet.

“We are just on hiatus at the moment,” said Richard.

“I pay the bills by working at Subway, anything on top of that is a bonus.”

The former Holywell High School pupils are starting a seven-week residency as part of a variety show in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, as they look to gain experience before their deal with Sony is put into place.

And just over six months ago the brothers were content to be singing in their home in Holywell.

Richard said: “We were singing in the house and started looking into it and building up a classical style because it was what we were listening to.

“We went into the competition to try and get some equipment and then eventually make some money out of doing something we love.

“We were completely shocked by the reaction of the audience.”

After winning the talent search, the brothers attended a showcase where their performance secured an invite to sing for record company bosses.

Richard said: “The deal with Sony is coming at some point, but we do not know when. It is about building a platform and experience.

“We have been playing across the country. We have played two shows with Ken Dodd and there could be more. We have been playing a lot of theatres and clubs. We love singing opera.”

David Roberts, of the Victoria Hotel, said: “As a direct result of winning the competition the brothers were introduced to entertainment specialist Paul Bridson who now manages them.

“The brothers have been showcasing their talents for Sony and have secured an imminent recording deal. Theirs was not the only success story as other entrants also found success and are now working in club’s and entertainment venues.”

The second North Wales’ Got Talent competition starts at the hotel’s My Place nightclub on Friday, August 5 at the Hotel Victoria, and continues every Friday in a series of heats, semi finals and a grand finale.

Prize money is £1,000 and talent spotters will be present throughout the contest.
