A PLAY area has received a facelift thanks to a group of hard-working volunteers.
Wales and West Housing Association residents teamed up with staff from money supermarket.com, contractors from Bushmede, students from Deeside College and local residents to renew the play area at Cwrt Leighton, Connah’s Quay.
Residents picked up litter and weeded the area, working alongside other volunteers to improve the playground for the benefit of local children.
Vy Cochran, from Wales and West, said: “I can’t thank everyone enough for their tremendous effort and kindness.
“This is a great start to improving the area.
“It has been a joy to work with residents and local organisations demonstrating what can be achieved through working together. We have lots more to do though and I would love to hear from anyone who is able to help out.”
Seven members of staff from Ewloe-based moneysupermarket.com volunteered during their lunch-breaks, painting the fence around the play area, the benches and play equipment.
Deeside College art students designed and painted fence panels and their designs included bakery and sweetshop fronts and children playing.
Bushmede contractors attached the panels to the freshly painted fence.
Residents say their next priority is to raise money towards the repair of the safety surfaces, estimated at approximately £5,000. They are also hoping to buy a multi-play climbing unit at about £30,000.
Keep Wales Tidy has also pledged to help cultivate a natural wildlife area at the back of the play area.
